FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Republic Services, Inc. (NYSE: RSG) announced today that W. Lee Nutter, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Rayonier Inc. will serve on the Board of Directors of Republic Services, Inc. Mr. Nutter will be the seventh member of the Board of Directors of Republic Services, Inc.

Commenting on the announcement, Republic Chairman and Chief Executive Officer James E. O'Connor said, "We are delighted that Lee has agreed to join our board. He brings with him an excellent set of financial and analytical skills, combined with extensive environmental and regulatory knowledge. Mr. Nutter has been Chairman, President and CEO of Rayonier, a Jacksonville, Florida-based forest products company, since 1999 and on its Board of Directors since 1996. His entire career has been with Rayonier, which has more than two million acres of timberland in the U.S. and New Zealand, and is a global supplier of high-performance specialty cellulose fibers. Mr. Nutter is a member of the Board of Governors of the National Council for Air and Stream Improvement, the North Florida Regional Board of SunTrust Bank and is a trustee of the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce. He has a BA degree in Business Administration from the University of Washington and graduated from the Harvard University Graduate School of Business Administration Advanced Management Program.
